DON JAZZY’S SUCCESS RECIPE REVEALED IN NEW BOOK: DONJAZZYFIED
By OlaPurpose James Asu

“A lot of individuals spend more time talking about their dreams than actually doing those dreams. Talking doesn’t cook the rice, you have to go into the kitchen and make for yourself a delicious delicacy”.
-Kehinde Ajose

If you are looking for one of the most influential showbiz personalities and entrepreneurs out of Africa, Don jazzy, will make the list. Kehinde Ajose, journalist, publicist and sought-after talent development strategist has released his new book entitled: ‘Donjazzyfied’ …lessons drawn from Don Jazzy on how to move from ‘Best kept secret’ to becoming a ‘Don’ in your field.

“This brave book is not about Don Jazzy in the end, but about an understanding of our struggles with dreams, desire to succeed, guidelines for achievement of dreams, and the answer to those secret doubtful questions we have been battling with over our dreams. Don Jazzy is an inspiration that left me with much admiration   and one question;”Why should I fear to succeed”?  Said Kehinde Bankole, Nollywood actress who starred in Kunle Afolayan’s recent movie, ‘October 1st’. What makes Don jazzy a force to reckon with? What branding lessons can be learnt from this showbiz don? How did he emerge as one of the most influential showbiz personalities on Twitter?

These are some of the thought-provoking questions answered in this collection of inspiring and instructive bits and pieces on the Don Jazzy phenomenon.

Chapter one, titled ‘Dream of a better version of you’, takes a look at Don Jazzy’s ability to conceive a better picture of a preferable future for himself despite coming from a humble background. The author brings to the front burner the bumps   and detours he encountered before stardom beckoned.

According to him: “Stop complaining about your deprivation and deficit, they are not enough reasons to throw in the towel, Don Jazzy is a living testimony”.

“In a world where sameness is the order of the day, it is only those who dare to walk the path less traveled that will enjoy life’s offerings. How do you get to the point where your book gets picked out of the several books in the bookstore or your shampoo gets customers’ attention? It’s a function of doing things differently. You will agree with me that Don Jazzy isn’t your regular music producer. From his carriage, dress sense, aura, brand identity; all speak volumes of his uniqueness. He doesn’t play in the small league of sameness, he does things differently. He doesn’t always get it right every time, but he always gets the attention of his audience just like he did with his massive hit song :’Dorobucci’. This is the subject matter chapter two focuses on.
In the other chapters, the author takes the reader on a trip to how Don Jazzy bounced back after the Mo’Hits break up.
“He refused to dwell on the past, instead he cultivated a positive mental attitude and dwelt on re-inventing his brand.”
In addition, it also centers around how Don Jazzy has been able to use Twitter as a tool to engage with his fans.
“Anyone who desires to build a huge followership either as an artist or entrepreneur cannot ignore the powerful tool of social media”.

Also highlighted in the follow up chapter titled: Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud’ is Don Jazzy’s heart of gold. The entertainment mogul is known to help young Nigerians who have a flair for music.

In the concluding chapter, the author charges the reader to cultivate action orientation, i.e the ability to take prompt steps in the pursuit of one’s dreams.
“A lot of individuals spend more time talking about their dreams than actually doing those dreams. Talking doesn’t cook the rice, you have to go into the kitchen and make for yourself a delicious delicacy”.

Cool FM’s Shine Begho has this to say about Don Jazzy: “Don Jazzy remains a showbiz brand that is worth emulating”.
“I am proud of Kehinde Ajose for writing this wonderful piece about a man that inspires us all”, said Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye of Rubies Ink Initiative.

The book will be available for download in October 2014.

I caught the inspiration of this piece when I was on my way to the office, it came to me when I got to Adeniran Ogunsanya in Surulere :   1. To lead others successfully, you must first lead yourself successfully. 2. To lead a corporation, organization or nation successfully, you must first lead yourself successfully. 3. To lead successfully you must be a man of your word. Your word must be your bond. Fidelity and integrity must be given top priority. 4. To lead successfully, you must love everyone you’re leading and avoid hating anyone. 5. To lead successfully you must be joyful and hopeful at all times regardless ...
FILL YOUR OWN MOULD By Emeka Nobis I had boasted to Ikenna and my classmates that I could play the number five position in football. That was borne out of envy because Ikenna's football skills were hailed. I decided to tame his mouth. That was in 1992, my second year of secondary school at Marist Comprehensive Academy, Okigwe. I became the last substitution in the fifth minute of the second half of a match our school played with a neighbouring school. That meant I couldn't be replaced anymore. It was absolute tomfoolery. I ran around the pitch in a pattern similar to pollen grains in water. I couldn't even trap the ball, mostly letting it pass through the hollow of my legs to the opponents. I was playing what was called "Shorting one" in our local parlance. Football wasn't just my forte. For me, it was eating the desert before the entrée in a four-course meal.  But it was different when I handled a pen and a sheet of paper. I could write e...

And unless they discover their gifts, they can't rule their world. Discover your gift(s) and rule your world. Your gift is your source of wealth. Unravel it early while you still have breath because it is your primary source of influence and affluence in life. Creativity is an asset entrusted to you as a special gift to benefit humanity with. If truly you are genuinely created in the image and likeness of God that automatically gives you the assurance of possessing creative and innovative power both to invent and to discover new and profound ways of doing things.  On this note we all @ SCHOOL OF PURPOSE DISCOVERY INTERNATIONAL have brought the FABULOUS ...
